: Marv- What model 2004 Lexus? I too use a car radio as my workbench reference/entertainment radio. -Walt.
That is not just your ordinary ray-dee-ooooh…looking at the wiring diagram the Navigational system shows to be hooked into the system also.
I see what they refer to the Radio- Player Section and the separate Stereo Component Amplifier section.
Now any chance that your radio DISPLAY portion is a plug in unit, that you have or possibly a removable faceplate, such is so popular on units now-a days.. Also… the unit shows digi-multiplexing interconnect lines….OR…shudder…the unit might be dependent upon call up shared display on the Navigation units display…which you no havee..
The unit shows 12 connections onto the radio-Player section and ~26 connections to the Stereo Component Amplifier section.
I was researching in on our collegiate Advanced Automotive Technology Divison, but it is geared towards output into video display units for quick referencing by instructors and students…therefore I could only print out and that was totally unsatisfactory, what with the fine numbering details resolution on print.
With absolutely no word processing programming installed on the units (Copyright mandates via the supplier) I can’t pull my magic in transporting files or any alliterations thereof..
Should you have access to ALLDATA at a collegiate source or MAJOR public library, you also might gain access to same.
In the interim fill us in on the display mode and if you also got the separate antenna amplifier module that was mounted over at the antenna proper ?
The unit shows to be feeding 8 speakers.
Initially fill me in on what you have, and if necessary, if I mag up the displays I can make out , and manually copy down all of the connector pin numbers assigned as well as the cablings wire color coding…(which should be of no consequence since you assuredly don’t have that.)
Standing by…

O.K ....by memory I do still remember the units being interconnected by designated A and B multi contact connectors of which about 6 lines in that cabling cluster were shielded.
Walt sent me a 5 page .gif file, but can't read most of the text
That definitely sounds like what I ALSO ended up with ! ....couldn’t work with that...maybe only making out the shielded lines that I mentioned.
Probably if you hit the input with healthy enough signal the missing preamp module can be ignored.
Thinking about it... I am sure that the computer interfacing over at Adv Auto Technology is also utilizing our common USB B-A ‘puter to printer interfacing so I will carry a Y cable over there and tap into the serial data stream and catch it on a flash drive and then I can do a Si-PO conversion and then get its data transferred into a system and do my magic with it.
Will do that Monday...stand by for 6 or so pages of data with gooooooood legibility.

O.K., now..heres your data...all condensed down to 4 pages and color coded up and it certainly seems like all of the A and B cable connectors numbers are legible.
Most assuredly your pin 13 connection on the tuner asssembly will be utilizing common mode carrier technique wherein the DC power being routed to the preamp is RF choke coil isolated at each end such that amplified RF signal can be traveling back down the line that the DC power went up to it on.
For circumvention, you just inject your RF into terminal 13 thru capacitive isolation.
Herewith... your linked references..all in PiNGed up format, so you may have to dub-l-click on... to mag it on up to full size….
