Schematic for Philco model 64
4/28/2008 6:11:39 PMTom
I have an old radio that belonged to my mother. It is a Philco Model 64. Unfortunately it does not work . The tubes all tested good so I thought I would recap the radio and replace all the resistors. I am unable to determine the values of some of these components. I was wondering if anyone has a schematic or knows where I can get a schematic for the radio . I looked on the Nostalgia Air site but it has the wrong schematic showing for the Philco model 64
Again it is a Philco model 64 the number stamped on the chasis is g 3310.
Thanks in advance

Tom

Should that referencing that you found supplied, be too old…antiquated…. of a Philco…check this out and see if this is your unit in question:

Thanks for you reply. The Philco 46-420 (121)is very similar to the model 64. But the schematic is actually different The 46 420 was made in the USA and the Model 64 was made in Canada. They do look identical on the outside. One difference that is immediately apparent is that the 7C7 RF amp has been replaced with a 7B7. Once you see the under side of the radio further inconsitancies are apparent.

I was familiar with the interchange of the 7B7…7C7 of the Canadian versus the U.S. version of the Hippo, but compare the reference pics and see if any other changes are evident. Particularly, as if your unit has the RF transformer (item 39) mounted under chassis as shown.

Thanks for the pictures of the chasis layout for the radio. Item 39, the rf transformer is on the under side as shown in your picture. The electrolytic capacitor, Item 7, is different. It is a 3 way capacitor 40, 20 and 5 instead of a 20 and 20. Also capacitor #16 on your top cahsis layout isn't on my radio; not sure why. I've been looking everywhere but still can't find the schematic for model 64. Also I can't get a dc voltage reading over 28 volts on any tube. 35Z5 checks out as good on the tester as do all the other tubes. I'm thinking there must be a short somewhere along the path

Thanks again
Tom
