DeWald C800 dial cord
4/16/2008 8:03:16 AMNick Simpson
Hi.
I recently acquired one of these AM/FM sets and amongst it's many problems has a broken dial cord. Does anyone have a diagram of the stringing arrangement or advice on a source of more information please? I have downloaded the Rider pages 20-5 & 20-6 for the schematic and alignment (many thanks for that!!) but it has no details of the dial cord. Any advice and help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Nick

Hi Nick,
Your radio is listed in Sam's 69-7.
However, it doesn't have any details on the dial cord either.
Sorry,

Thanks for that info Carl. I had thought of ordering a copy of the Sams sheet but as it doesn't have the info that i need, it wouldn't benefit me.

Nick - The dial string arrangement on my C-800 appears to be the factory original. So, I pulled the chassis from the case and made a diagram for you. It is posted on my website, www.VacuumTubeEra.net in .pdf format.
Look on the page labeled "Reference Materials - 1940's".
Have also included a photo to show a little more detail.

Hello Robert
Thank you so much for taking the time to do that for me. Its a great help. It looks like I need to get a pulley manufactured for the tone control spindle as my set is missing it.
Thanks again,
Nick
