Help, I was give a wooden cabinet radio needing help. After the veneer repair and the re-glueing, I now need a model or schematic for it. On the cabinet there is a small metal plaque with CUB on it. Unfortunatly there is no manufacturer or any other name or numbers on the chassis or cabinet. It is AM and SW. the tube line up is: 6A7,78,75,45,80. The tube numbers are on the tube sockets, so i'm sure i have the correct tubes in the right places. The chassis is similir to a Philco 60. However i'm sure its not a Philco 60. Thanks for all of your help and or suggestions

Hi, Arnie. "CUB" doesn't ring a bell. Maybe if you posted a pix and linked it here, somebody might recognize it.

From the tube lineup, this would be an AC radio from the late 1930s.

I take it that the radio doesn't work? Do the tubes light up? Even without a schematic, you could check voltages, particularly plate and filament, at the various tube sockets - using tube data sheets available here on this forum. That would be a logical first step in troubleshooting.

::Doug, thanks for the reply, I haven't tried powering it up yet. I'm sure the filter caps have dried out and my luck are dead shorted, I'll remove the rectifier first. I tested the tubes and they are all good. My big problem is there is a black resistor under the radio and i need some value to replace it with. I didn't know I could post pics here. I'll get the camera and post a couple here (if i can figure out how)
Thanks again

Arnie

Leutze CR Inc made a 'Cub' in 1931. Also The English company Ultra made a 'Cub' about the same time. Might help you in some way. Sorry I have no other info,

Frank

How do i post some pictures here. or how do i make a link to them? I can email them to someone if that would make things easier?

Arnie:The easiest way is to post the pix on one of the many freebie image hosting sites, e.g. http://www.imageshack.us/ Then copy and paste the link here.

You can also, with a bit more work, make the pix in the link actually be displayed here - you can see the format by going to a posting displaying a pix, and hit the "Reply" button. But just copying the pix URL is simpler.

This site can't host pix themselves - you have to host it elsewhere, and then link it.
