:This radio plays ok when it is hooked up to AC, but when I hook it up to DC, the sound is weak & is almost drowned out by the vibration sound. And even though I have the power supply putting out 6.3v, there is only 5.8v on the #7 pins. I have recapped the radio & replaced the lamps with 1490s.

I have run into some vibrators that have internal capacitors to prevent the points from arcing. try to open up the vibrator (some are made to open with a retaining ring, some are not)and examine the insides.
