AM transmitters

Forum,
Looking at Zenith under resources, I noted a wireless record player and a phono oscillator. Has anyone tried either of these circuits for use as a short range AM transmitter for home use?

I recently read something about the Zenith on a website I stumbled across and it the author mentioned something that it was okay for nearby radio sets, but didn't seem to carry throughout the house. IIRC he also mentioned that there were a lot of harmonics generated with it. Aside from the fact that you probably have most of the parts for the Zenith on hand, have you looked into something such as the SSTRAN unit?

i had one a few years ago i got from aes it was this type if i remember right .it worked alright but was prone to drifting and didn't have much range.the ones i found over on arf were much better, one used a 6bm8 tube and one used a 6888 tube these work very well but as i don't have the ss trans i can't compare. i have hooked both these to a longwire ant just to see how far they would go and either one will cover my block and more with a short ant. i get around 100 ft.butch

Try the 1 mHz crystal oscillator here-I am thinking about getting one myself.

I built a different version of that transmitter & it works great all through the house, just move the .001 cap to the bottom of the coil. Here's the link

Forum,
I was not intending to build one for myself, but just posted it because of many recent inquiries about AM transmitters posted here, and having noticed it while scanning over the Zenith stuff.
