Is there a way to date a transoceanic by the serial number. I have a 8g005.

There is a Z TO book out that may have specific dates for serial numbers. Some of them had black labels inside with dates recorded. My Bunis book says the 8G was 1946 and in 3 model #s.

I'm looking at my "Zenith Trans-Oceanic," by Bryant & Cones. It doesn't list the serial numbers for the 8G005Y series, but does provide this info:

If your chassis is 8C40, it has a loktal rectifier tube and is either a 1946 or '47 model.

If your chassis is 8C40TZ1 or 8C40TZ2, then the rectifier is a miniature tube. The -TZ1 was a '48 model and the -TZ2 was a '49 model.
