I came across a very nice Grundig Majestic #2120(?). The wood cabinet is invery good to excellent condition. The unit played well but it is missing the 2 knobs that fit on the volume spindle. The asking price was $150US. HOw does this price sound and are the knobs available?

Thanks,

Gail

Hi,
Grundig is still in business, but the knobs are not available unless the "Radio Junkyard" might have some.

The price does seem a little high, but the Grundigs have managed to hold their valuation from that era rather well.

There are numerous variables to consider, the seller's overhead, and investments into the unit, but if you really like the unit and you plan to have it for a long while, the price, when in that range, is not much of a factor, when weighed against the pride of ownership. If the person selling the radio has done some repairs to it to make it functional, and can make some sort of warranty- if even for 30-90 days, it is not thatbad of a price. If it has not had any work, and no warranties, evaluate your desire for this radio; you may not see another one for a long while. If you know someone who works with electronics, they can always get pointers here, but the model is too new to probably find on this site, as it is late fifties/ early sixties.
