Emerson 2 Gang Variable Condensor
1/2/2008 2:37:44 PMDaniel B. Russell
Happy New Year !! Does anyone here know how to identify the
capacitance of a 2 Gang air gap condenser from a Emerson fp-422. The
condenser part number is 9PC-533Y. I have found two that look similar
to my unit on AES, but they have different values. Any help would be
wonderful. Thanks alot, Dan

Hi Dan

Values aren't called out but in general the antenna section will be 365 pf. The oscillator section less.

Do you still have the tuning cap from the Emerson? Assuming the leaves aren't shorted, you can measure them with a capacitance meter - with rotor and stator fully meshed.

Doug,
all the leaf's are shorted, and 3 are missing. i have a vairable cap from a spare radio, but i would like to get it working eventually again.
