Steel needles are used in old, usually wind up, phonographs. More modern phonographs use crystal cartridges with different type of needles.

:I see that steel needles are availalble from AES, for those phonograph cartridges with a set screw. I realize they are steel, but would they work for occasional use in a radio phonograph?
