Sir Robert:
It sounds like that you are interested in the Zenith 10-S-443-452-470-464-491-492 series of sets that are utilizing the 1005 chassis, in accordance to the
original electro-dynamic speaker size incorporated.
The marking on the back may indicate either phono or TV input, and has the typical gold chassis, along with your mentioned tube line-up with the mystery tube being its 6A8 converter tube.
Thumbnail of the chassis is :
It looks to be compliments of Sir Douglas…. and he can, in all probability, fill you in on the fine intricacies and details of fabrication of Ye Olden Zenith Wavemagnet Loop antenna portion thereof.
Additionally, he even professes to have very high on his to do list for 2008, the utilization of a FULL size sheet of plywood and the rolling in of even more sawhorsies for an upgrading and refinement to ye olden workbench…..

What gives?........ I certainly can’t account for the first photos loss of hot linking …maybe The Shaaaaadow knooows.... but I am now placing it here again,
permitting a visual referencing of its Wavemagnet Loop Antenna.
Sir Douglas gives a recount of his restored Zenith unit here:

On the “possible” loop that you found, I was thinking that the loop unit mated into a smaller plug on back chassis …akin to the speaker plug... instead of
passing thru holes in a small sheet phenolic disk…but looks like the
“antiques dealer” clipped its wires loose….therefore leaving you more work, in tracing
out its wiring connections.

::Thanks, its the 1005, image did not come through. Do you know how i can contact Sir Douglas for antenna design. I replaced most of the rubber wires and electrlytic caps. now i just need the antenna design. A piece of wires works but gets a lot of hum, i'm guessing the shield on the antenna is really needed.
:Thanks Again Bob.

Chassis 1005 was used in several Zenith models. To identify the model number, we need to see a picture of the front of the cabinet. I have Stein's prewar console guide.

Bob- Happy Holidays to all!! I have a couple of "Zenith Rotor Wavemagnets" that I salvaged from a couple of junked consoles. Model #'s unknown. They are a bluish-greenish-gray cardboard box with orange lettering. They rotate on top and bottom brackets. They measure 16.5x8.5x3.75 with a 4-prong plug. You are welcome to one if you still need one and if it sounds like what you need. I'm in the Rochester NY area. Let me know. -Walt.
