What happened to techpreservation?
12/9/2007 6:10:52 PMSteve
Just after I finally find a site with great, clear, FREE schematics, it has disappeared! Anybody know what happened to techpreservation.dydns.org? It was a great place for us guys who restore old radios for our personal collections and don't have lots of exta $$ to buy schematics. Best part of the site is that the schematics were so clear and easy to read. Any ideas?

Try this site. The Resources section is loaded....perhaps not complete, but close to complete.\

It seems to me that you didn't include a site. Am I wrong??

Doh! As Homer Simpson would say. I have been repairing the ceiling damage from the tree disaster all day and the brain is fried.

Steve, I have had problems with that web site coming and going, it will be out for a few days, then be back. Be paitient, it should return, in the mean time you can download all the Beitman volumes at the following:

http://www.schmarder.com/radios/beitmans/index.htm

Jist download the indexes then go for the issue you need, or download them all and keep on your hard drive for future reference.

Thanks Doug. I gave this site a look-see and it appears very similar to techpreservation. In fact, Dave Schmarder mentions that he got the scanned downloads (which use the same viewer - DJVU- as techpreservation) from a Scott Harvey who has/had a now inactive website...could it be that his site was techpreservation?? hmmmm.

Doug,
How do you use the index?
I am specifically looking for the FADA 790 radio schematic.
What year and page would I look? I thought I found the listing in the index but cannot get to the correct
year/page... I know it must be something simple but
maybe I have been up too late..

Bob, the how to use the index is on page 2 of the index. The first twelve issues are listed in volumes one through twelve, after that they are listed by year. Page 13 of the index lists FADA 790 in book twelve page 48, and also nine page 34. Look for the schematic in nine or 1949 and the very large page number 34 on the bottom of the Schematic page. Also, the twelve 1952 book on page 48 again use the very large page number on the bottom of the schematic pages. The page number in the top showing 1/192 do not necessarily correspond to the actual book number that appears on the bottom of the pages.

I hope that helps.

Amazing how many different ways one can interpret a word (and probably a few of the words in the sentence I just wrote).

Thomas:... I too thought you were suggesting a site that you were about to list.
.. but you truly meant "this" site... but that was NOT clear to anyone except you I guess....lol

(ps look for mystery pkg soon)

Yeah...it's like looking at one of those line drawings of a cube.

.....mystery package.......hmmmm......sounds interesting!!!

Thomas, I do use this website's Resource section quite often (it is usually my first choice in fact) but some of the schematics are not clear, especially if the scanned page is in small print. There is no contest, however when it comes to the collective knowledge of you experts on this site - who many times have made the difference between a successful restoration and a boat anchor sitting on my shelves! Thanks from all of us novices out here.
