:Hello guys. I just found this old stuff at goodwill. It came out of an old console with no identification. There was a Meissner tuner, a Voice-of-Music turntable, and this amplifier connected to this Stromberg-Carlson 15" slimline speaker. The only marking on the chassis besides the tube lettering is an M54 in several places. The transformers are labeled 29225/T-49815A, 29231/T-49792A, 29229/T49789, and two 29230/T-49790. I am not sure of the numbers on the transformer under the chassis. The tube complement consists of a 6SN7GT, two 6L6GA's, a 5Y3G, and a 5V4G. I thought it might be a Stromberg considering the speaker, but I can't find a similar one anywhere. Thought it might also have something to do with Thordarson, given their relationship with Meissner, but can't find the transformer numbers in any of their catalogs either. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have photos at:

OK, figured it out. You could buy the tuner & amp kit #9-1093 from Meissner in their 48-A catalog. Does that mean 1948? According to the catalog list price was $310 back then. 18 watts, less than 2% harmonic distortion +/- 2db 50-15,000 cycles. Any comments? Why so many transformers?
Good question...I counted more than I need. A copy of SAMS 55-13 for 9-1093 should explain it all. SAMS 55-13 was published May 1949 so 48-A for 1948 is close enough.
