filter choke size requirement?

Hello:
I am still spending time with my Zenith 12 U 159. I replaced the # 2 speaker with an old speaker with a permanent magnet.I had another junker with a field coil that measured 5000 ohms. The combination works reasonably well. I plan to replace the junker speaker with a good permanent magnet and a chohe. I order most of my parts from Radio Daze.I would appreciate a suggestion by part number from the catalog # 306 Radio Daze. Thanks again.

Without really studying the schematic.. I'm guessing an 8 -10 Henry choke should do the job ... at like what?.. maybe 80 - 100 ma or in that range?

You can find one at www.oldradioparts.com too...

Hi Tom
Both speakers had open field coils. This is the Zenith 12 U 159 that had a bad power transformer-Two sections open of the candohm-Two bad 5Y3,s-all bad filter caps etc. It is working at this time but I am trying to buy two original transformer.I hope to use another choke and another permanent speaker until I can either find two original transformers or send my two somewhere to have them rebuilt. Thanks again
