Hello Richard,
i have a 1091 and it's one of my favorite radios..
The Grunow speakers are supurb and very enjoyable to listen to. They do have trouble with verneer blistering and becomming brittle. You might want to consider a total re-cap job and there are quite a few with the high tube count. Save yourself some trouble and do it from the start, any one of them could cut out or short at anytime and you'll be driven crazy one by one. It's worth it for those particular radios. The sound is excellent when they are right.

I looked at yours and the complement is different than mine, but they are pretty straight forward. drop me a mail if you need help. The big can caps should be changed first thing. Check the condition of the insulation on wires against the chassis , the rubberized insulation is in poor condition i'll be willing to bet.
