GE radio X-216A
11/7/2007 10:46:33 AMMartin
I have a GE table radio X-216A for repair and cannot find service data in Ryders for this. Does anyone know about this one or a model that is close enough to use its service info for repair. The unit I have has been worked on by someone else and now has many more problems than it should. Thanks for any help.

Martin,
I saw a post on another forum - said is was a 7 tube, AM/SW radio from early to mid 40's, possibly built for export. They posted the tubes, but filament string didn't add up.
Can you post the complete tube line up and bands?
Should be able to match it up with a schematic with that info.

Vell, I am tellink you vat I am having done been findink.....e.g.... that X-216 set purportedly being a wooden table model of circa 1939 vintage.

I am providing these sets of micro thumbnails pics of the wooden cabinetry of a series of cabinets.

Models 225A & 225V..... uses 5 octal type tubes

Model 226..... uses 6 loktal type tubes

Models 228..... uses 8 loktal type tubes

Those are 3 progressive upgradings of sets, with the latter two, even utilizing a tuning eye tube. All of the sets are designed with the consideration of
them being used on 120 VAC OR foreign 220-240 use. They have given a tube count, but when you check yours, note that the sets are also
incorporating a ballast "tube". That might even happen to be the specific area where you are finding your set botched up by the previous
person.

The top-o-line set is even incorporating Push-a-ma Pull-a-ma AF output circuitry !

Check out this sites schematic resource bank and see if any of the 3 Gentle Electric series above are coincident enough to work with.

::Thanks for all the responses to my request. They reminded me that if I were to get to work and leaf through our Ryders I might find info close enough to use. In volume 15 the tube layout and locatons of IF transformers etc match the X153. Someone may have switched cabinets, who knows. The radio has missing and broken mode switch and may not be repairable in any case. Thanks again.
