Repairing clear plastic bezels
11/3/2007 1:21:29 AMLou
Gentlemen:

I have a small, portable TV that has a cracked front plastic bezel ( the clear plastic is cracked right in front of the tube, obstructing the view of the picture).

Anyone have any ideas on how to repair the cracked plastic and make the bezel optically clear again?

I thought this was an excellent question for those of us that repair old TVs with plastic safety glass.

Thanks
Lou

My wife works in antiques and crafts and stuff like that. There are hobby shops that have all sorts of good stuff that can be used in restorations. If you have a hobby shop in your area, go in and look around. You just might find exactly what you are looking for.

You neglected to mention the kine screen size it is covering as well as if that plastic screen is flat OR
most probably... contoured.... with a slight curvature to it on both its x and y axis'.

You might consider the techniques used for repairing cracked and chipped windshields, so long as the fillers used don't affect the plastic.
