Wire For Winding Coils

Hi Gang --

I'm really confused here. I'm trying to assemble a simple one tube regenerative shortwave receiver using period 20s-30s parts as a historical exercise but I'm stuck with the coil winding part. Period articles mostly specify single cotton covered, double silk covered, single silk covered, etc. copper wire but that stuff is next to impossible to find. If I used the regular enameled stuff in the same gauge, what sort of changes do I have to make in the number of turns, if any?

Thanks in advance for ANY replies!

Just use standard enamaled availible wire, No changes need be made.

In the "old days" dccs was sometimes all there was, I still have a wooden, 500 ft spool of #22.

But for the most part, use what you have.

Don't worry about things, use what you have and the world will be fine.

If there's an error, you'll find it and you'll correct it, that's what we tech types do.........that's why it's fun.
