Your radio uses a 35C5 for audio output tube. Yes that transformer rated 2500 ohms impedance primary will match this tube. 8 ohms should be ok for the secondary.

:I picked this plastic set on a road trip and it wouldn't make a sound... I started simple and went straight to the speaker to find the output transformer had an open primary. The secondary of the original measures about 2 ohms. The only reasonably priced replacement from AES with the same mounting dimensions has a primary of 2.5K ohm and an 8 ohms secondary. Will this be a suitable replacement?
Thanks for the advice on the Philco B570... I subbed another output transformer in just to check the set out after I replaced the filter caps. It played well for a few minutes then became nothing but "static". I subbed out the tubes and, again, it played for a few minutes and then static.. This happens consistently after a brief cool down. I'm worried about silver migration - is this a typical presentation??

It can be silver migration causing the static. This usually happens when there is leakage from primary to secondary of an IF Transformer.
Monitor secondary voltage on an IF Transformer. If static is caused by silver migration a positive voltage may be seen on the secondary.
Built in caps can be cut or drilled out if they are a problem. Use 100-120 pf as replacement.
