Lil7 AM Transmitter problem

Finished assembling the transmitter and it didn't work. The tube did not glow. I checked resistance between pins 2 and 7 and there did not seem to be continuity. With the tube removed and the transmitter plugged in, Pins 2 and 7 of the base showed current when I checked with a voltage tester. Am I correct in assuming the tube is bad?

Kevin,

Sounds like your 117L7 is a dud - try a new tube but test for filament continuity before plugging it in.

I just built the same transmitter. Unfortunately I ran into the same problem with a bad tube. I put it on the tube tester and it didn't even light up. The company was very good though about shipping a new on priority mail right away no questions asked. Now it works and I've been playing around with it the last couple of days. I made a solid oak case for it out of left over wood that I had. I went with an 1/8" input jack. It seems to work well though. The biggest drawback is finding a very quiet spot on the dial between 800-1000kc (especially at night).
