Fada Bullet 1000 with odd tube line-up
10/6/2007 10:44:59 AMGreg
Hello,

I just purchased a FADA Bullet 1000 from Ebay. After recieving it I found that the chassis inside had a tube line-up of 50L6, 34W4, 12BA6, 12BA6, 12BE6 and 12AT6. Can someone tell me if this chasis is from another radio?

Thanks

Greg

A Fada 1000 uses a 35Z5, 12SK7 (x2), 12SA7, 12SQ7 & 35L6

Hi Dennis, Thats what I thought. The chassis itself is the same as my other Bullet 1000 but the tubes are different. Any idea what this tube line-up could be for?

Thanks

Greg

Didn't see any FADA's with this tube line up in Mallory's. Any identifier's on the chassis?

Hi all,

The chassis has the numbers 18977C stamped on it. My other bullet has 1000 stamped on it. I guess I'm going to try to work with whats there and try to get her running. Its strange because all the locations ot the coils, tubes, speaker, dial and tuning condensor in the exact position as my other Bullet.

If anyoune out there has any additional information please send it my way.

Thanks

Greg

Greg,
Click on my name above and e-mail me. I can e-mail you a schematic for a Fada 700 that has all of the correct tubes except for the output. It uses a 35B5 instead of the 50L6.

Don't know what other radio(s) uses that lineup.....hopefully somebody here does. I've been doing some searching for a website that would do a search using the tube line-up to identify a radio, but so far no luck.

I have occasionally found a few Howard 901a radios that were supposed to have all octals = 35z5, 12sa7, 12sk7, 12sq7, 50L6 tubes
...but instead they had a mix of octals and miniatures retrofitted. ( maybe after the war they started integrating whatever they had around)
Typically all are miniatures except the 50L6

I had a Crosley 10-137 which was supposed to have the modern miniature tube lineup - and mine did, except that the 12AV6 position held a 12SQ7 octal, with no evidence of any rework. If I recall - the tube chart on the bottom of the radio may even have shown a 12AV6 here. Apparently - it was not uncommon for some manufacturers to make substitutions when convenient.

Greg,
There were apperently several versions of the 1000 chassis, 1 similar to the 700.
