Can someone explain how I can measure continuity on primary of the antenna coil for this radio? I take it it is a matter of measuring the contacts on the band switch, but I need a little guidance in following the schematic and applying to the radio.

You should be able to measure the primary of the broadcast and shortwave RF coils by measuring the resistance between the A and G terminals. The schematic shows the range switch in position 1 (broadcast). You should measure close to the values on the schematic. With the ohmmeter still on A & G switch to position 2 and you should measure that RF coil.
