Antenna questions

I want to pick up a certain radio station which is 120 mi. away, at times there seems to be interference from stations which are closer. I was thinking of an inverted L antenna, but how long should it be, should it be copper or some other material, what diameter should the wire be, should the lead-in wire be shielded, should I wire-in a variable capacitor?

Tex,

Not sure about the inverted L - but you could build a simple wave trap to reduce interference from adjacent strong local stations. There are several examples online.
