Maybe you all already know this ....but it is recent news to me so I thought I'd share it.

The federal government has required all broadcast TV stations to change from an analog signal to a digital signal by February 17th 2009. This means that if you get your local TV signals over the air (through 'rabbit ears' or a rooftop antenna) you will need a converter box to keep using your old TV set. This change only affects antenna users.

Used to be that the FCC looked out for the public interest. I don't watch TV much anyway, so that will be one more reason for me not to watch.
