diagram for the firestone S7404-5 shows 47a 47b filter condensers to be 20mfd and 40mfd. Positive terminals goes to the filament of the 5W4 One goes to ground and the other to the center tap of the transformer. Which one to the center tap

Hi Howard,
Since it is not spelled out on the schematic. My preference would be to have the 20mFd connect to the center tap, and the 40mFd to chassis ground for two reasons. The B+ voltage won't be as high given today's higher line voltage and will be less stressful on the 5W4 rectifier charging the smaller 20mFd cap first especially if the radio be turned off and on suddenly after warmup during a power dropout.
