Atwater Kent Volume Knob--Help!!!
8/26/2000 8:41:48 PMBUd Geuvens
I would like to know if there is a secret to removing a Atwater Kent Model 44 volume knob. I tried to wrap tape around the knurled part and pull. All I got was a little chip on the knob. I have looked for a set screw but found none. As this is my first AK, I haven't had the pleasure of working on one as yet. This one has a crackle in the volume when turned and I need to spray it but can't get the darn knob off. It's sealed from the back so that's not a option. Any ideas out there would help.
Thanks
Bud

Hi Bud

Do NOT try to remove the volume control knob from an Atwater kent Model 44... First remove the chassis from the metal cabinet.. Then there are two screws mounting the volume control on the chassis, remove these.. From the back of the control you will find the set screw to be losened..

Thanks Norm,
I knew there had to be a way. The darn thing couldn't have been rusted that bad--it looks to clean and free of rust on the chassis.
