Jeff,
Is the cone busted? If not, what is the problem? If it is simple buzzing at higher volumes, this speaker's voice coil can be realigned fairly easily. Sometimes buzzing can be caused by a loose "spider" that can simply be glued back down. If it needs reconing, see this post.

I have used Hank Brazeal in the past and he does great work.

Thanks I will check him out. Most of the cone is gone and the more you touch it the worse it gets.

Jeff:
That looks like a plain ole PM speaker from what I can see. Is there something special about it or could you get a standard replacement from Radio Shack of someone?

The speaker for this set has a choke in for the perment magnet.

Jeff,
I don't know what Lewis Linton was referring to - from the schematic it looks like your set has an electrodynamic speaker (not PM), so simply replacing with a new speaker from Radio Shack is really not an option. If you're not a stickler for originality, you could replace with a moderm PM speaker but you would have to add a choke in place of the speaker field coil. Myself, I prefer a set to look as original as possible and, if this is a nice radio you plan to keep, I'd opt for the repair by Hank Brazeal or other competent restorer. BTW - last time I checked, Radio Shack had dropped 99%+ of all replacement speakers. I bought several a few years back when they were closing them out...

OOps......
I kinda didn't notice that little choke in the power supply clearly labelled "Speaker Field"...you are very right and I am very much in the wrong direction with my thinking. Yes, you have a candidate for reconing, but you could temporarily replace the speaker field with a resistor and use a PM speaker to see if you need to be doing anything else while you wait for your speaker to be reconed. Also, my Hallicrafters has a PM speaker, so my thinking was biased.
