Philco 84 Antenna Transformer

As a novice repairing a Philco 84B radio, referring to Rider 4-34, I discovered that one side of the Antenna Transformer is open. I have removed the coil from the radio and know that the wire is broken somewhere beyond a terminal. How would one repair this problem? Can it be re-wound with say a 28 gauge wire? If repair is not a option, which antenna coil would I need to order from AES?

Hi Butch

If the primary, side connected to volume control, is open you could rewind this winding. Exact number of turns isn't critical. The secondary is tuned and more critical.

AES sells an universal antenna coil. Since your radio doesn't have shortwave this coil will work. It will be much smaller in size.
