Hello,

Just inherited a Majestic 92 radio (model 90 receiver) and missing two g-45 tubes. Are they still available at a reasonable price?

Thanks!

Yes and no. Still available; price is un-reasonable.

You do not have to locate the original Majestic G-45 tubes, any type 45 tube can be used and are available from many sources on the internet or ebay. Shop around for good used ones. They can be pricey. Often I pick up junker sets that are too far gone just for the tubes. Goo hunting.

If you don't find 45's at a reasonable price contact Bill Turner. He sells subs for $20.

You could also make your own with a different tube and adapter.

1930s '45 tubes go for relatively cheap prices (G style tubes). G-45 tubes are very expensive.

Check eBay for regular '45 tubes, and if you want to make the set all original, save your pennies for some G-45 tubes. 2A3 tubes also sound really nice in the set. Be sure to replace the rubber on the speaker either with new rubber or suede. If the set sounds a bit harsh, I can give you the component values I used to build a negative feedback circuit for my set (two resistors and two capacitors...very easy).
