Simpson 269 Multimeter

I have a Simpson model 269 multimeter. I want to put in new batteries. I am not sure if the two rather large square battery compartments require some type of holders. It seems as if they might. I don't have any literature on this meter.
Perhaps someone will give me a hint as how to proceed.
Any information will be greatly appreciated.

“ I can’t remember all things all of the time but seems like I can occasionally remember some of the things some of the time”

But….eeee---wwww---eeee.. VEWY NICE…and one fine unit.

And upon a closer inspection of the molded battery compartments… doesn’t the unit have internal brass headed terminals that are spring loaded on their backside such that all one does is insert the “D” cell for the terminals to make pressure contact for connectivity, with the other compartment then being is for the 22 ½ VDC battery with the same type of connectivity action.

Those battery / cell units are for providing current and voltage levels for making your units high and low ohms scales functional . Being very long lived, almost shelf life / chemical decomposure on their lifespan

Here’s the full poop on your unit ......HERE

That’s it.

Ivan, Great meter - I have one I fixed up a few months ago that was surplus from the Radio Telescope at the University of Iowa. The right hand compartment is for a standard D cell (flashlight battery). The left hand compartment is (unfortunately) for a 22.5 volt battery (Eveready 412 / NEDA 215) that you can order from Radioshack or most online battery stores. I use a couple pieces of foam along the sides to keep the 22.5 volt battery firmly in place.
