I finished recapping the radio and checked all tubes, but on short wave, the radio sounds very distorted, Broadcast is clear and strong. I dont have any experience with resistors, are there mica caps on this that could be the culprit? Every radio I had in the past played the same on all bands, good or bad. help.

Since the audio portion of your set, from detector to speaker is common to both BC and SW, its probably in the RF or oscillator circuit.
