8/18/2000 9:47:51 AMMark Manuelian
I am trying to repair the in speaker from a Freshman Q-16. the coils are open and unrepairable. The speker is otherwise in good shape.

Any advice on winding new coils or finding replacements.

Thanks

Hi Mark

Noticed you mentioned coils are open. Sometimes only one section is open and the speaker can be made to operate on the good section. You can buy 40 guage magnet wire from AES, tubesandmore.com . You could also check Play Things of Past. The sell used parts.

Norm,

The coils are a basket case. I tried and my more patience collector friend tried, the more they're messed with the messed up they get. Why did the put a layer of paper between windings? Minimize capacitance?

The radio works great otherwise, the cabinet is in good original condx and it has the original manual and warranty card, so its wirth the effort.

I will check out the part source you suggested too.

Thanks
