4 Tube Radio With Empire Logo
8/5/2007 8:41:38 AMGreg
Hi,

I just acquired an old Empire 4 tube AC radio. The tube line up is 12Z3, 6C6, 38, 6D6. The radio is blonde colored wood with black wood trim. There are 2 dial plates and no lights. This radio looks very 1930's deco. Is there anyone out there that might know anything about this radio? I have no model number to go by and I cant seem to find anything that matches it.

Thanks

Greg

Hi Greg

Empire was made by Fada. Mallory lists the radio as Fada Model #110A or 110B.

Hi Greg,
You might try Dewald 430 or Sears 7173/7183 schematics.

Hi,

I am currently re-capping this radio using the Dewald 430 schematic. I've found there is a 275 ohm resistor wire built into the original cord. Can someone tell me if its ok to replace the cord and add a wirewound resistor on the heater line of this circuit?

Thanks

Greg

Ho Greg

Yes you can use a wire wound resistor but there are a couple problems. Where will it mount? The resistor will be very hot. How will you dissipate the heat?

There are alternatives. Read this first:
