Anybody have some tubes like these?

Bill

No nothing like that. Noticed they say "souvenir" and have a date. Anything special about the date? Could it be open house at GE?

Wonder if they are regular vacuum tubes? Would be interesting to check continuity between pins #2 and #7.

I have some semiconductors marked "mechannical sample" but there is something inside.

A couple of theories present themselves.

1. Maybe they were rejects, labeled souvenier? If there is heater continuity, then maybe that's what they are.

2. Maybe they are empty - just a base, pins, and metal envelope?

Well my picture wasn't as I thought. One rolled. But here's the print:
MID-WINTER HAM REUNION

OARS-TARS FEB29, 1948

SOUVENIR DUMMY TUBE

GENERAL ELECTRIC CO.

OWENSBORO TUBE WORKS

One tube is stamped 6SR7 in metal on the base of the envelope and the other one is a 6SG7. The 6SR7 tested ok but the 6SG7 has a short beween Filament and cathode. Tubes came from a deceased Ham. I don't know where the reunion was held.

Bill VA and trying to center some text?

Bill,

Those are unique collectables! In that you are able to test the tubes certainly indicates that they are not empty - likely they were QC rejects. You might try contacting George Fathauer - a big tube collector and seller - for more info...(http://www.users.qwest.net/~tubes/)
