Anyone who lives near Milwaukee, or passes through Milwaukee, must call the station at 414-978-9000 and demand that they change their format back to classical. This was an upper management decision, and does not reflect the true likings of the public. I can't think of anyone who doesn't like this station. If Milwaukee doesn't even have one classical station, it will be tragic! We don't have any big band, good jazz (only smooth jazz), or classical anymore. This is terrible! It's like living in the Dark Ages!

:I think I'm going to break something. One of Milwaukee's oldest FM stations, Classical 106.9 WFMR, has changed its format to smooth jazz!

I'm going to put signs on my car protesting the format change, and urging others to call in and comment. From what I've heard, a lot of people are unhappy about the change.

In my experience, getting a station to change it's format back to the original programming is about as likely as getting hit by a meteor while having sex with Paris Hilton.
It's all has to do with profit. They play what brings in the most ad money.
I've given up listening to music on radio. Here in CA little music is found on AM. FM doesn't have my favorites. Besides I don't really care for FM distortion. FM is fairly line of sight and gets distorted while driving around in my area.

::91.1. Yeah. That's all I have to listen to here, too, and it doesn't come through that clearly. I don't want to listen to classical on satellite, and I don't even want to buy satellite.

Hi All,
Here in Washington DC we lost our long time classical station, WGMS. Luckily a floundering NPR station took on the format.
Up to the end, WGMS was making monry, too. It seems that consultants told them they could make more with a kind of rock and roll.
Philadelphia lost its classical station about ten years ago, and Friday with Frank was cut back to one hour.
CHWO has been coming in well after 9 PM.
Best Regards,
Bill Grimm
Here in Philadelphia, Temple University (WRTI) dropped 12 hours of it's real jazz format and picked up classical for 12 hours a day. It's a non-profit and they found the classical listeners donate a lot more at fundraiser time than the jazz listeners.
I gave up on terrestial radio and bought a SStran AM transmitter and keep it hooked to a spare computer. I listen to what I want to now.
