Hallicrafters SX-100 Spontaneous repair & alignment

Last night while i was trying to figure out why my SX-100 wasn't recieving unless the xtal calibrator and BFO were on, it just started working! I was listening thru headphones with the volume all the way up and it nearly blasted my ears off!

Now I want to align it and need a signal generator that goes down to 50.75KC for the IF & was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for what to use. My old heathkit IG-102 only goes down to 100KC. I have a Heath AG-9 audio generator, would that work? The signal doesn't have to be modulated for the 50.75KC IF alignment. Or is there a "Good enough" method to do it without a signal generator?

Thanks, Mark

Mark, the AF Gen will work fine, the IF transformers won't recognize the source only the frequency. PL
