Zenith Antenna Choke

Need the inductance value of zenith part number 20-134 antenna choke as I have one with shorted internal turns.
This choke is used in many "5S" models and is in series with the primary of the antenna coil. If someone has an old Miller, Mesissner, or Thoardarson catalog it may be referenced which would yield a value. Using the physical dimensions of the coil it calculates close to 1 mh. Thanks in advance, Tom.

Is the choke shown on this schematic? http://www.nostalgiaair.org/PagesByModel/005/M0025005.pdf

If not, can you link us to a schematic that does show it?

If it's the choke labeled #1 on the above schematic, that is the wave trap - unnecessary with today's AM spectrum - just remove it.

Doug: Thanks for the reply. No, it is not shown on that particular schematic, however, on the 5S127 zenith schematic it is coil number 2. That particular part number is common quite a number of zenith chassis.
I understand about the wave trap, in fact, they can decrease sensitivity on the low end of the band. Thanks again for your interest. Tom.

Here's the schematic you referred to: http://www.nostalgiaair.org/PagesByModel/888/M0024888.pdf

I don't think the value of coil #2 should be very critical since it's not part of a tuned ckt. If I'm reading the schematic correctly, it's bypassed for the broadcast band.

Doug: I think this coil is bypassed on the two short wave bands but remains in series with the primary of the antenna transformer on BC. I agree that the coil itself in not resonant except that it does affect the total Z and XL of the antenna circuit which would affect the reflected Z into the secondary of the antenna coil. I have serviced hundreds of these chassis but never had occasion to measure this particular coil. I was hoping that Miller or some manufacturer would have listed a replacement which would allow me to then look up the value of their replacement unit. Thanks, Tom.

Doug: Had a similar chassis to come in for servicing and it had the same part number antenna coil. It measured 400 microhenries so I used an RF choke to replace mine. Thanks, Tom.
