Philco Model 90 alignment procedure

Does anyone have a better way to completely align a model 90 (2-45's) IF 175kc? I have aquired a Jewell 560 oscillator as suggested by Riders manual. Now do I need to get an Output meter or can I use a DVM to measure output across speaker coil? Anyone with instructions can email them to me at thezinman@insightbb.com. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, David. One approach is to inject a weak signal, and align by ear. Use a weak signal, that requires cranking up the volume, to avoid having the AVC causing confusion.

Or, you can put a DMM on the AVC line, and align for max.

You can put the DMM across the voice coil, too. Again, use a weak signal.

You can make a big science out of such alignment, but probably won't make that much difference.
