Need help ID ing radio or chassis. It is BC/SW with 6 tubes. The tube lineup is:::35z5,6G6,7C6,7A8 and two(2) 7B7..the radio doesn't have any tags or numbers....It has 3 knobs with a gold colored square dial...

Hi

If it wasn't for 6G6 looks like something Philco would make. Octal 35Z5 along with loctal tubes.

Since the radio has a 6G6 must also have a series filament dropping resistor? More common output tube would be 50L6 or 50A5.

That's is the tube comp....The more I look @ this radio the more I think it might be a project kit or a home brew....Got it up and running and it is sensitive on both BC and SW however with a bit of static....

Hi

Good to hear it's operating. I don't know how they power filaments but if directly across the AC line you will have a hot series resistor dropping voltage. If that's the case 50L6 can replace the 6G6 and the resistor can be eliminated.

:HI Norm..
You are right...On the redt 35z5 there are 2 large snad resistors one btw pins 4 & 8 @ 500 ohms and one BTW pins 6&7 with 4 & 6 being tie points....you can see where it has gotten hoter tha H under the chassis around the rect tube!!!!
