Mystery Honeycomb National Radio
7/27/2000 12:08:27 AMWes Witten
I have a National radio contained in a pressed metal cabinet quite like the HRO JR. only different. There is no place for the coil trays, just blank metal. It is an 11 tube radio. It looks like this unit had a honeycomb tuneing rack in it and this has been changed. It now tunes with a slide rule dial and about 10 inches of travel. The dial is marked from 7.0 MEGS to 7.5 MEGS. The tuneing is super! It is all bandspread. The honeycomb has been removed. The set does not have a thick seperate faceplate like a National RCH or similar honeycomb type radio. Can anyone help me in figuring out what this radio is? Or WAS! I have some digital pictures and if you will email me personally I will be glad to send as many as you wish. I think it is a good mystery and I don't know where the National experts reside on the net. Thank you, Wes Witten raindance@bigfoot.com

Hi From my experience, it sounds as if you have a special or custom set for a specific purpose. May be receiver dedicated to the 40 meter band. The internal circuitry will help to decide what's going on. any coments? Andy.
