Just curious are you the same Del that was at a northern WI amature radio swapfest on 5-5-07?
Don't know if I have the tube but I'll check my spare stuff when I can get a chance to crawl into my attic.

Hi

117Z6's sell for around $5.00. They can be purchased from Radio Daze, www.radiodaze.com and AES, www.tubesandmore.com.

117Z6 is a full wave rectifier but each section is connected in parallel. You can relace the tube with a single 1N4004 - 1N4007 silicon diode. A 47 ohm resistor should be added in series.

And the diode and resistor can be wired into the base of an old tube socket and plugged in thus not modifiying the radio
