Dos anybody know where I can buy a dial spring that is specifically mae for this type of application.
Thanks
Go to this webpage for a photo that shows much of the stringing....

You can then go to the site owner's home page and perhaps contact him.....maybe he can at least provide you with a photo of the spring (so you can fabricate one ?) or maybe even steer you to someone who can supply you with one. It appears that this gentleman is into Hallicrafters (he owns an SX-130)amongst a myriad of other interesting things.
I have used a ball point pen spring in the past !!
Good Luck
Dennis
I did a little bit more reading on the webpage I referred you to. It turns out that if you scroll down to the photos of the SX-130 there is a hotlink that takes you to a copy of the manual (DjVu format)...in that manual is a diagram of he dial cord stringing and the springs....they appear to be standard small extension springs that you should be able to duplicate at any good hardware store's small parts drawers.
You will need the DjVu viewr from Lizardtech to view the manual....it is downloadable for free.

I have a few dial cord springs. I'll check the three older Hallicrappers I have to get some idea of the size. There are many different sizes of the springs. I'll let you know.

:Dennis thanks. I have the manual and the DjVu reader. I saw the picture, but hoped there was a radio daze, antiques radio, etc. site that actually sold the springs. Guess I will have to try the ballpoint or the home depot......

I have a dial spring that is approximately 3/16 inch in diameter by approximately 3/8 or so inch in length (unstreatched). Center to center of tie holes is 5/8 inch or so. Send me an email.
