i build guitar amps & hang out on a internet board similar to this one. a few months back a friend of mine gave me a tube caddy with about 200 tubes in it. he knew that i "messed around with tubes", but had no idea of what he was giving me.
in short, there were 1 or 2 audio-related tubes in the box, but the overwhelming majority are TV tubes...oddballs by the standards of a "guitar amp guy".
is there any interest in the world of old tv's for NOS tubes? can any of you guys direct me to a website where these tubes could be put to good use? or does anyone here want to e-mail me privately & see an inventory list? i'd sell the whole box cheap...
i don't know the etiquette of this board so if my posting is inapropriate in any way, please accept my apologies.

The good news is that there are sites out there dedicated to vintage television, but I have yet to encounter one site as well covered by Nostalgia Air and a few others.
The bad news is that many of the TV tubes are not used in radios, especially the "compactrons".
All is not lost, because many radio HAMS are interested in the beam power tubes for building RF linear amps.
You can find them by posting to such lists as "QTH"( http://classifieds.qth.com/classifieds/ )
