Grundig radios were made in Germany. The schematics published by Rider (the ones on this website) are for U.S. radios.

Jin,

I have no idea as to what your level of expertise and knowledge is concerning electronic repair and servicing of vintage tube radios.

I can only make a few suggestions in the hope that you will be able to successfully repair your Grundig 1004W.

First of all..........if, when you power up the radio there is a loud hum that is not controllable by the volume control, that would indicate that the power supply filter capacitors are shorted or leaking. These would be the large electrolytic (polarized) capacitors. You would have to replace these capacitors as well as any other paper/wax type capacitors as they are most likely faulty also. This is known as "re-capping" a radio.

For excellent tutorials on tube radio repair go to :

http://antiqueradios.com/resources/Repair_and_Restoration/

This website has a great forum as well as many, many radio repair articles and tutorials in the "RESOURCES" section.

Also...thye "References" section of THIS website offers a number of tutorial articles that are very good.

Regards,

Dennis.
