Pilot 100 multiplexer adjustment help please
4/15/2007 9:32:28 AMJ-F
Hi, I would like to optimize the stereophony of the multiplexer. But I only have the schematic, not the calibration procedure. Someone has an idea?

Thank you

Had meant to get this to you earlier; but will post here for the equal
benefit of any others.

If you have the instrumentation and the generator, no problemo. BUT.. if having a stable generator and no Old-Silly-Scope, an AC metering will also suffice.

ALSO..........if just needing a touch up, with no "DIDDLING" of the unit having previously been done, one could go down to the main amps audio output far enough to make a test lead clip in of a headphone
jack (Considering none is alrady on your system) with the big mushroom headphones to shut out all external noise and thus being able to make minute qualatative evaluations. Then by the tuning into an off the air
station and with them playing a very good stereo music selection for a duration, it is possible to minutely trim in A4's slug adjustment for the best stereo performance / separation.

That will only be a fraction of a turn.....needless to say no 13 turns to the left and 26 turns back stuff .....LOL.

More tech info is available IF needed.

Hi Edd,

Hum... I think I need more infos because I don't know what is Point A, B and C. Also, L5 is not shown on pic. Maybe there is another picture for alignment.

Thanks a lot!
J-F

Why 'soitanly...one Pilot schema coming up...all marked up for you . And, as I said, with a pristine unit , all that might be needed is a micro touch up of A4 dis-crim-in-id-i-tator.
But in dacades past, I certainly have used a scope and the use of an off air signal for the trimming in and the peaking of the 19 and 38's with the waiting and use of an instant of radio silence where there was no modulation being present for a few seconds. The traps...IF even required to adjust, are somewhat more critical...but what the hey...now a days... I can dial in either 67,000.999 or 67,000.001.

With schema referencing, all of the specific coils, test points and adjustments should be there for you now.

Thanks Edd for the schema. Well... I touched all of the coils several times before asking my first question... but! No more "buzz", no stereo for the moment.

thank again
J-F
