Zenith T/O Royal 7000 - Need Troubleshooting Help
4/10/2007 12:29:23 PMDave D.
I recently bought an cosmetically excellent Royal 7000. The seller shipped it with inadequate cushioning material. It now has what appears to be an intermittent connection somewhere. It receives great on the FM band. For the BC or SW bands, I can only get reception (or static for that matter) if I apply some pressure to the bandswitch or tuning knobs. Seems that by doing so I am restoring a connection somewhere. Has anyone seen this issue before in a Royal 7000? Or can you suggest any likely places to check first or any good techniques to help isolate the problem?. Thanks much.

Dave, sounds like an open or shorted cap in BC tunining section. It could be in the variable condensor if plates on the BC band were shorting and pressure releived the short but then why doesn't FM have the problem. Most likely open condensor. PL

I've seen many AM problems caused by the RF gain switch and control.
