Philco 57 "Metal Dial Scale" (Bezel?)

It slips over the tuning shaft and nails to the wood cabinet. It about the size of a half dollar or a dollar coin... It is some kind of metal, brass? copper? Very thin like a little thicker than a sheet of photo paper...It is tarnished, not green, but dull
unshiny grayed over brass color... My question is:
Do you have a recommendation for using something to soak this in to clean and brighten it up. I am afraid any wire brushing however fine will scratch it very easily....thanks, bob

Bob, I have a vague memory of using a product that I ran across when I was on a black powder gun building spree (one kentucky long rifle, one brown bess and a restore on a burnsides calvary carbine[1886]). I think it involve chromium tricloride? It was used for cleaning up brass shell casings. Dixie Gun Works, Union City, TN, (901)885-0700 back in 1986
