Transformer needed

I need a transformer with these voltages: 5V no CT; 6.3 V with CT; around 600 V with CT, 110 input. Used for Grunow 6C chassis using 1-#80, 2-6D6, 1-6A7, 1-75, 1-80. Vertical style, not basket style. About 4 X 4 X 5 inches. Thanks.

I believe RadioDaze has what you want; they have 6 transformers with those ratings, with varying wattages. 5 volt winding is center tapped though. In their latest catalog page 52. Or go on-line.

Good advice, but get you wallet out.

If the replacement xfmr has a CT that you don't need, just don't hook it up. You can figure the amp requirements for each winding by studying the schematic and consulting tube data.

It may be difficult to find a new xmfr that will exactly match the physical dimensions of the original, so you might have to make some adjustments to the chassis or the mounting. You could check PTOP to see if he has an original.

If only one of the secondary windings is blown, maybe you can install a additional xfmr for just that voltage?

If your xfmr is burned out, be sure that whatever fault may have caused the problem is corrected before enegizing the replacement.

Del,

You may try looking on the Play Things of the Past site for a transformer at:

I just ordered a 5 volt CT 2 amp filament transformer from AES for about $20 shipped. My otherwise new transformer read 5V 2 amp on the side of the transformer. I installed it and the radio would not play, then it did, then it did not, then it did, then not. Checked the tube pin volts and only 3.1 was going to the fils of the 80. Unhooked it and found only 3.1 coming out of the transformer. Also capacitor voltages only 143 and 176 although 525 DC at the 2 and 3 pins. Thanks for help.

Send it back... there must have been a mis labling or something.
Did yuo call AES and tell them this? What did they say?

I have bought all my transformers from Gary at www.oldradioparts.com....
You do have to do a little searching in a long but well organized list...being careful to make sure you select the right physical size and mounting type ...then looking for the voltages and current ratings... but you can usualy find the right thing... I always have.
He does have a $20 min order so look for other things you need like tubes and such.
Good luck
