1969 Chevelle Radio 91BFP1- One AM Station

I have a 69 Chevelle radio with a perfect FM band but my AM band only picks up one strong AM station. I can hear stations clearly if I touch or connect a wire to the collector of the AM RF transistor. The voltages on the AM RF Transistor are: B=.9V; E=.198; C=9.10V. I changed the AM detector diode and one of the AM AGC diodes but they didn't help any. Could anyone help with suggestions? Thank you a lot!

That sure sounds like the RF amp transistor to me. If the RF leaves on the collector, then you are injecting local stations with your finger, when the collector should be sending signals amplified from the base. Change the RF and see what you get.

I serviced a good number of those GM sets when they were new. Your symptoms are those of a non-functioning oscillator. Your strong local station is coming through via "TRF" action. Replace the AM oscillator transistor first . . .if no results than check the oscillator trimmer capacitor which is mounted on the PC board. Those trimmers were notorious for failure as were the volume controls that Delco finally sent out a modification for. Good luck.
