Coradio (Hotel/motel pay radio)

Does anyone know who may have manufactured the chassis for this 6-tube radio? While it works OK after recapping, I'm bothered by the antenna wire that measures 120VAC. There's no loop antenna, just a short wire hanging out the back of the chassis that goes to a coil on top of the chassis. It passes thru an unmarked ceramic cap at that coil. A schematic would be helpful.

I would put an Ohmmeter on that antenna and check it to each prong of the AC line cord. You didn't say if to was an AC/transformer or AC/DC, but my gut guess is that you are reading through a capacitor in the antenna lead, then a few turns aroundd the antenna coil, and then to chassis. I would rest easier if I knew that the capacitor was not shorted, or the antenna was not touching the line cord somewhere.

I found zero ohms at both prongs. I might add that I contacted someone who had restored the same radio. He dug his out of storage and found his antenna wire was hot also! He had no explanation and sent me here. Oh, it's an AC-DC.

Dennis,
I used the schematic for a Telecoin M5TS4 when I had a Coradio to repair. If I remember correctly, the schematic was very close, and the coin mechanism was the same. The information is on Riders Telecoin page 16-1,2. Here is a link to the resources page:

Hope this helps,
